Current Openings

As administrator of one of the largest voucher programs in the country, CHAC offers a wide range of career opportunities for individuals with an outstanding commitment to customer service, teamwork and quality. Positions also require proficiency in the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite products.

Currently, CHAC has openings in the following areas:

Housing Specialist
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent with one to two years of college, business, technical school or equivalent experience. At least one year of experience working with the public in a Housing Choice Voucher Program or similar program is desirable.

The housing specialist will be responsible for completing functions for voucher program participants that ensure program compliance, including performing annual and interim re-certifications, notifying participants and owners of results, monitoring moves, and making annual contract rent adjustments. The Housing Specialist will prepare monthly/weekly reports on re-certification, conduct briefings with tenants to explain HUD and voucher program guidelines and perform other duties as assigned. Salary: Mid 20’s

Housing Inspector
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and either: one to two years of college, business, technical, vocational training in construction or building inspections or equivalent work experience. A minimum of two years’ experience in residential inspection with a public housing authority or Housing Choice Voucher Program is preferred. A valid driver’s license and access to a fully operational automobile is also required.

The housing inspector will be responsible for conducting HQS (Housing Quality Standards) inspections on assisted units under the purview of the Housing Choice Voucher Program. The inspector documents unit conditions on hand-held computers, conducts subsequent follow-up inspections, and determines whether units meet or fail program standards, according to HQS guidelines established by HUD. Salary: Mid 20’s

Department Clerk
The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and have knowledge of operating office equipment and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. One year of experience in an office environment is a plus.

The clerk will perform key clerical and support functions, including answering telephones, taking accurate messages, entering data on the computer, and assisting with department mailings and notices. Additional responsibilities include scheduling interviews and appointments and answering tenant and landlord inquiries as needed. Salary: Low 20’s.
